TPB AFK premiers today for free online

In Nerds only on February 8, 2013 at 9:15 am

TPB-AFK, the upcoming documentary about The Pirate Bay and its founders, is being released today online. The film is premiering with a prominent spot at the prestigious Berlin Film Festival and at the same time TPB-AFK will also be released for free on the Internet, making it the first film ever to premiere both online and at an A-list festival. (at 17:00 CET)

Pirate Bay was one of the best known bit torrent file sharing sites on the internet.  The website’s founders were put on trial in Sweden, charged with facilitating illegal downloading of copyrighted material. They were found guilty and sentenced to a year in prison with a fine of US$ 3.5 Million.

I have blogged before about how Gottfrid Svartholm Warg was kidnapped from Cambodia to Sweden and thrown in jail in an episode more reminiscent of illegal ‘rendition’ program run by the CIA.  Gottfrid’s whole ordeal was a travesty of justice, a sign how the copyright police are completely out of control.
