All emails snooped and stored

In 2006 we first heard about the NSA program that was snooping on all internet traffic in the US from Mark Klein, a retired AT&T communications technician.  He blew the whistle on AT&T’s illegal and unconstitutional program of intercepting all internet traffic and routing it to a ‘special rooms’ for data mining and collection.  That resulted in several court cases which were thrown out and a new law was passed ‘authorizing’ this illegal and unconstitutional snooping and intercepting.  Since then other whistle-blowers have come forward to expose corruption, waste and corporate infiltration of the NSA.

So it turns out Julian Assange was correct to warn that the US government has devolved into a giant spying machine.  New laws give ISP’s  immunity from prosecution for spying on their customers.  NSA is building a huge date mining centre in the desert to store all this data.  The National Security State is a dangerous concept.  Too easily it will morph from protecting citizens to spying and abusing citizens.
